Kanye West Tries Hardest to Play "Secret" NYC Show, Nearly Incites Riot Instead

Staying up late on a school night has never been so...disappointing.

To make reparations for not being able to headline a rained-out Governors Ball, Kanye West announced a "secret" makeup show at New York City's Webster Hall just after 1 a.m. Monday. How could he have *not* known that thousands of fans would go "f*ck being a zombie at work in a few hours" and flood the streets outside, nearly inciting a riot?

Ever thoughtful, Kanye attempted to persuade Mayor Bill de Blasio to shut down the blocks surrounding the venue so fans could party outside.

But noise ordinances and the right to protest peacefully only if you've got a permit got in the way, and the gig was eventually canceled.

Still, in the end, Kanye came out on top, riding in a car with Travis Scott in the Yeezy version of a Roman triumph.

"All right, guys, we're in bed," Kim Kardashian said in a Snapchat video after the pair circled Manhattan looking for an alternate performance space. "We tried... he tried so hard, but it was just bigger, the cops just really wouldn't allow it." Maybe it was all for the best, though?
